In het ‘must read’-artikel in de New York Times ‘High energy costs plaguing Europe‘ vat één Parijse consultant de klimaatdoelen van de Europese Unie/ onze regering mooi samen, versmald tot ’20 procent (bij ons nu 16 procent) zo duur mogelijke energie in 2020’:

“We embarked on a big transition to a low-carbon economy without taking into account the cost and without factoring in the competitive impact,” says Fabien Roques, head of European power and carbon at the energy consulting firm IHS CERA in Paris. “I think there will be a critical review of some of these policies in the next few years.”

Wat schrijft de NYT: Europa prijst zich dankzij het klimaatbeleid uit de wereldmarkt, diverse bedrijven verhuizen naar de VS of China. Tegelijk blijven CO2-emissies stijgen (nogal logisch) en importeert Europa- mede dankzij subsidie voor niet renderende wisselvallige energievormen (duurzaam)- meer steenkool dan voorheen.

De EUSSR: voor 2020 lekker met een voedselbon in de rij staan terwijl EU-klimaatcommissaris Connie Hedegaard haar klimaatsoep opdient, met wat Griekse kruiden. Gezellig, schept een nieuwe saamhorigheid!
